MI DEPT. Of Enviro. Quality Megan McMahon: 50 Homes vs BIG Hogs
0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!
Beautiful historic Concord Township, Michigan is the latest target for 5,000-head of manure-polluting hogs. My home and 50 others would be 1-mile or less from this foul confined hog factory if it gets built. A pre-settlement forest, identified wetland, drinking wells, county drains, and the Kalamazoo River will be damaged by the manure pits and fields where 2.5 million gallons of manure will be spread every year.
My neighbors including myself bought our houses with the intention of these being our “forever” home. We've spent many weekends remodeling a kitchen, updating a bathroom, turning a nursery into a big girls room, mowing our lawns. We've celebrated 1sts, graduations, anniversaries & retirements. We've played basketball in our driveways, catch in our backyards & roasted marshmallows on summer nights. We've made these houses our homes where we dreamed that one day we'll make more wonderful memories when our grandkids come for a visit. Some of the these homes have been passed down from generation from generation. The hog factory will make it unsafe to continue raising our families in these homes. We'll be forced to sell our houses & uproot our families.
Please sign our petition & help us fight to save our homes – To keep our children safe & heathy – to keep our water safe to drink & the air safe to breath. Submit your opposition to Permit No. MIG010282 by September 26, 2017 to Megan McMahon at the MI Dept. of Environmental Quality.
