Why this petition matters

Started by Runhu Xu

Niger doesn’t have much quality education. But because of the increased donations in 2012, the number of kids in primary school has increased dramatically by 35%. However, the education levels in Niger are still deficient. The preschool enrollment rate is still just under 7 percent. Over 50% of people aged 7-16 are not in school. Only around 40 percent of primary school students enter secondary school, and the amount of people that complete the school cycle is only 20 percent. Significant problems in Niger are poverty, lack of food and clean water, and sanitation are problems, but education can solve that.
Having a good education will result in more jobs and improve the other global goals. “Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime,” a wise man once said. We still give them jobs and education, so they can fend for themselves and work towards the other global goals. The main reason isn’t the cost of schooling, as schooling is free in Niger, but rather the lack of schools in certain areas and the children having to work/marry instead of school.
Another problem is that the children in Niger do not have enough money to support their families, and they must leave school and help their parents with work and not receive the chance for a proper job and the opportunity to enter the workforce. Donating to this cause can help further increase the number of children in Niger going to school.
You can help the children get an education in Niger by donating to this cause, or you could sign this petition and get the word around to possible donors. Thanks!
