The Woodland Caribou, is one of Canada's most recognized national symbols and they are on the verge of extinction. Studies have shown that the Woodland Caribou have been on a steady decline for the past 20 years, because of the mass habitat destruction from the oil and tar sands. The oil companies destroy the Caribou's habitat so the Caribous are forced to move, which makes them easier targets for their main predator, the arctic wolf. When the government tried to enlist them as endangered, the oil companies started pressuring the government not to, because it would lead to more restrictions on the destruction of their habitat. Please help us to protect this national symbol by signing this petition to enlist the Woodland Caribou as an endangered species.
