Tender Loving Daycare  has been operating in the basement of Grace Church (formerly Knox) at 2 Grand Ave S in Cambridge for 25 years. The owner, Tracy Rees, was told that her lease will not be renewed and as of Dec 31/2022 she will no longer be able to operate in this location because the new Church Management have decided to use it for their own services.

TLD provides licensed child care for 45 children in Cambridge. This area of Cambridge is already an underserved area with not nearly enough licensed child care spaces to meet demand. This has been exacerbated by the decision to close all Regionally operated child care centres. If TLD has to close because they cannot find a new location 45 more children will have no care and all the staff will be unemployed. The waitlists for all the other centres are full and there are not enough spaces to accommodate these families' needs.

There is a perfectly operable daycare centre sitting vacant at 99 Beechwood Rd in Cambridge. Tracy is willing to rent/buy this location. She is looking at other locations in the community but finding a suitable location where renovations and licensing can be completed in time will be a significant challenge and if it can't be done, she will have to close the business. Tracy has reached out to the City Of Cambridge to help facilitate this or to ask for assistance finding another suitable space. They are providing no assistance. 

We need the city and regions help to keep 45 licensed daycare spaces in an area of Cambridge which is already desperate for child care spaces by allowing Tracy to operate out of the daycare centre at 99 Beechwood Rd in Cambridge. Please don't allow this unnecessary hardship to happen for so many people while there is a solution available to meet the needs of so many families and children in our community.
