Lockers in Meeker Middle School should be optional. Save our time AND our spines!

     I am a student at Meeker. I believe being able to carry around a backpack and having a locker is the best option for my school. If you support me, both lockers and backpacks will be available for students. Lockers help store items students don't yet need, but students will have to take long trips back to their locker when they need it. If students are able to carry their backpacks, they will feel more prepared. Backpacks will also save those trips through the school. 

    Also, most students have already bought backpacks, so if lockers are required, backpacks will only be used for less than an hour each day. That's a waste of money!

     Now, the reason why lockers are required may be because of safety, but I don't see the difference between someone hiding a dangerous item in their pants pocket, sock, sweatshirt, etc., and their backpack. 

     Altogether, it would be beneficial to make lockers optional in my school. I hope after reading this you will see my view and sign  and share the petition. Thanks for reading!
