Save the Old Kendall County Jail

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

Our old Jail was purchased by our city in 2006 with Illinois Tourism grants to create a museum allowing our future know of its roots in history. Now some of our city fathers want to tear it down and toss this piece of our history in a landfill without a single thought of the buildings worth. This Building is one of the last of its kind . The architecture of this building over looking the historic section of original Yorkville, could be a beautiful addition to the future vision . We have two choices of what we would like to leave for our children, a landfill with building material or a beautifully restored building  It part of our unique identity in not only Yorkville but Kendall county and the rest of Illnois. In July the state preservation  office recognized the Jail and Sheriffs residence as historic . There are only two left in the United States. Please help us save our history.
