Raul Daniel Higareda has been in the U.S for the past 16 years. He did not choose to come here on his own. His family brought him here when he was just three years old. He has not had any problems following the laws that are given to him and he was just recently pulled over for driving without a license. He has a sick child of just one year and two months old that needs him in his life. He needs a father figure to look up to and support him. This is very important to him, and he has nothing in mexico for him.

Everything he has is here and he has tried his best to survive through these tough times as an illegal immigrant. He is willing to get his G.E.D. and find a good job if this is succesful in order to help out with this. All he wants, and we want, is a fair chance. We think that he is a U.S. citizen already, just isnt official. He needs all the help he can right now, they locked him up in a containment room (ICE did) and they wont let him out without bail of almost $10,000.

While we were first informed of them arresting him, we collected as much money as possible to bail him out within that hour. At 8:06 on a Wednesday night, June 27., he was arrested. We waited for him to be processed but they kept making us wait and wait for hours. There were 17 people in front of him to be processed when we had arrived at the jail around 8:30 and it took about and hour to process 7 people. so when we had checked that next hour, we had to wait for 11 more people that were in front of him to be processed. We continually asked for his bail amount but we had no answer. They then told us we had to wait 3-4 hours which was ridiculous because it shouldnt of taken that long. When he had gotten processed, immediately ICE had him in containment already as if they were stalling just to take him in.  Even though we repeatedly tried, nothing worked and he is currently in a cell where he does not belong.

We even paid $800 just so we could have him transferred to Atlanta withint 3-5 business days instead of 2-3 months.

Ariel, his girlfriend was in the car with him at the time he was pulled over. First-hand response from her, " We had just got done dropping off kathy and his baby in douglasville when we were on our way home. I, myself, was not feeling well and he insisted he drive. He has done this before and has always been safe, but not this time. We were on the freeway next to sixflags before exit 49 when they pulled us over. He was doing 20 over the speed limit (in all seriousness...no one on the freeway goes 60mph exactly). They came up to the car and asked if we had weapons or drugs and we replied with a no. They then continued to ask for his license when daniel replied' "i dont have one." They then asked for mine, as i handed it to them, they walked away. They then came back and asked Daniel to step out of the car and began to arrest him. They gave me my license back and his belongings, and gave me the address to where i had to get him. They did not ask for my info on the car or anything, just cuffed Daniel and then left. In my eyes, i personally did not agree with this. Panicking and frustrated, i called kathy. We then went to the jail together where we waited until 2:30 in the morning to know that we could not do anything to help him. This upset us on so many ways."

In our opinion, this is not fair, and we need anyone's help with this, and will appreciate anything.

Thank you so much!
