The  Arctic Wolf

Canis lupus arctos

Arctic wolves live in the Arctic regions of North America and Greenland. The Arctic wolf is not threatened by hunting and habitat destruction in the same way as its southern relatives. But the Arctic Wolves can thrive in a diversity of habitats from the tundra to woodlands, forests, grasslands and deserts. They are carnivores—they prefer to eat large hoofed mammals such as deer, elk, bison, and moose. The Only predator of the arctic wolf is the polar bear.

Arctic wolves help to control the populations of other animals in the region like the musk ox, caribou and Arctic hares. Which can benefit many plant and animal species. The carcasses of their prey also help to change nutrients and provide food for other wildlife species, like grizzly bears and scavengers.

If the Arctic wolves became extinct, a whole chain reaction of things would happen, which might be catastrophic. Wolves are predators of smaller animals, and when the wolves prey on them, it helps keep their populations down. The main thing that would happen is that the deer would overpopulate, which is not a good thing.

There are approximately 200,000 Arctic wolves left in the world

The Arctic wolf's conservation status is Least Concern but they are becoming more endangered every day because of industrial development such as roads and fences driving these beautiful animals to extinction.

How are we supposed to stop the arctic wolves from going extinct, Well here is an easy way

Reduce, reuse, recycle – in that order. The fewer humans use the earth's resources, the less pressure we put on the wild species also trying to survive on those same resources. We can also give support to any websites that help the wolves.

So let's do as much as we can to help the arctic wolves gain a greater population again!
