Help Protect Free City College in San Francisco

This petition had 1,122 supporters

Voters made it clear this November that they want to fund universal free City College in San Francisco by passing Proposition W with 62% of the vote.

Now, sadly, the Mayor’s office wants to break this pledge with the voters and divert funding for free City College elsewhere.

Today in the 21st century, a high school diploma is no longer enough to climb the ladder to the middle class or stay in the middle class. Basic education now goes beyond K-12. Higher education is necessary to obtain a good, middle-class job in today’s economy. In San Francisco, the average City College graduate makes $11,000 more per year than the average high school graduate.

National leaders, like Senator Bernie Sanders, and local leaders praised this initiative as an example to the nation of how to strengthen and grow the middle class in America.

We must stand firm and keep the will of the voters to make sure San Francisco is the first city in the nation to make community college universal and free to all our residents.

Sign the petition below to tell the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors to keep this promise to the voters and use Prop W to fund free City College in San Francisco!
