Last week, the Harris county court has notified my grandparents that they are wishing to take their land from them. This piece of land has not only became a place of work for my grandparents and many other Latinx vendors but a place for our community to come together. The property is located in Houston, TX off of shady lane and little york. Due to the effects of COVID, alot of these vendors were put out of jobs or forced to retire causing them to struggle to continue to provide for their families. My grandparents were one of those many that were forced out of their jobs & allowed these vendors onto their property in order to sale and make a living. That being stated, many of them were able to begin their small businesses on this very piece of land and with this has brought our alot of our community together. Please help my grandparents & our street vendors to continue providing for their families by signing this petition and helping them show the court that losing this land not only takes away just a piece of property but takes away from family’s income & an opportunity for our community to continue serving one another.
