For communities with 10,000 residents or more their water gets tested immediately, but if it's a community that's less than that it can take from weeks to months to test their water source. This isn't fair for the smaller communities. New York has the most strict water testing rules. There was a community in Mayville  New York which had 1,800 residents not able to drink their water because there were dangerous levels of a contaminant PFNA which is also proximal femoral nail antirotation found in their water and if they got their water tested earlier, that incident could have been avoided completely. If we can change those rules, more people don't have to worry about drinking contaminated water. Testing water does cost a lot but it is better to have less sick people and have to use more money to buy the supplies to test the water. Drinking water that is contaminated gives people liver problems, diseases, and a higher risk of getting cancer. Making sure small and big communities in New York have equal water testing rules can help people now and future generations.
