Ms Tess Flint is a dedicated and outstanding teacher at Warrigal Road State School. She is deeply loved by families and staff. Her passion for teaching and genuine love of the children and families have been undeniably displayed to our community over her years of teaching here. Her passion to be a teacher began as a child and she has undoubtedly influence many students to the same career by her teaching.

In a challenging few years navigating the pressures of the pandemic, she continued to be an inspiration and played a pivotal role in allaying anxieties of our children and nurturing their growth and development. 

This year, she displayed further commitment to the school by setting up her home near to the school. This costly decision in a climate of sky-high property prices was so she could dedicate her best energy to her students and fellow colleagues. 

To our dismay, Education Queensland has now made a shocking decision to transfer Miss Tess Flint out of Warrigal  Road State School against the wishes of Ms Tess Flint and against the wishes of the school. The community is outraged that a dedicated teacher is forced to move against her decision and her appeal has been rejected. 

In a climate, where teacher burnout is increasing and the nation is grappling teacher shortages, decisions such as this is certain to exacerbate the crisis . A teacher is not just a job to be filled, a teacher is the person and heart that steps into the classroom each day ready to give of their best to their students. 

We fear strong-handed decisions such as this will absolutely ruin morale among an already pressured and strained teaching community. 

We hereby appeal for Education Queensland to grant Miss Tess Flint her request to stay teaching at Warrigal Road State School.
