Help the process of making Waubonsie Valley High School's lunches more locally sourced!
Hello, my name is Cullen Watkins and I am currently a senior at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, IL. During my four years at this school, I have noticed that while yes, our school lunches at the school are decent, they could be a lot better and fresher. Currently, we have pre-packaged pizza, burgers, chicken, and other frozen food that's shipped from supplier warehouses that a lot of our student population depends on to eat every day. And while our local farmers continue to struggle (especially due to Covid-19), I think it's time we modernize our school lunch. This is why we need to consider changing from things such as pre-processed burgers to fresher and more local ingredients/food. Not only will this put money in our local farmer's pockets, but this will also fuel our student body with better quality food that can fuel our minds for the rest of our busy day. So yes, our current lunches aren't the absolute worst, but I challenge Waubonsie Valley to help take the first step by speaking up about the process of making our school lunches healthier and fresher by making our school lunches. Thank you and I hope you can support this cause!
