Baytown Little Theater is a beloved part of our little town, and has been for over 50 years. We put on fantastic plays every single year, including an annual summer musical. Additionally, we also run a youth program to include the younger generation of those interested in theatre!

Unfortunately, there have been some unsettling incidents going down within BLT’s youth program. Many of our young actresses and cast members have been sexually harassed and assaulted by people in and out of our company. When telling the higher-ups about these issues, they would shrug their shoulders at us and just tell us they don’t wanna ruin the accused’s career. Many would see this as obvious victim blaming and further enforcing the toxic “boys will be boys” mindset.

We do not want to shut down our fabulous program. We just want to build a better one that will always support the stories of victims and will listen to BOTH sides of the story. We plan to develop an “if you see something, say something” committee if all goes well, and get the law involved if something like this happens again.
