Lindsay's local, Stanley Hess, has been trying to bring a family owned & operated grocery store to Lindsay for a few years now. The store will be a fully stocked grocery store and meat market. The beef will be supplied from his very own meat packing house. The store will have anything any usual grocery store supplies, but they will specialize in selling freshly cut meats, local produce, baked goods, and several specialty items. The grocery store will benefit the town by bringing tax revenue, easy access to a grocery store (for those who do not want to drive to Gainesville or spend $5 on a gallon of milk at the gas station). It will also provide jobs to highschool kids, which will ultimately give them the opportunity to start building their work ethic at a young age.
Stanley has bought land at 2 different locations and continuously runs into roadblocks with the City Council, City Planner, and Mayor. He has completed everything they have requested from him to try to make this grocery store a reality. He feels very defeated with the opportunity to move forward. City Council continuously ignores his requests to present at their meetings and the Mayor (Donald Metzler) refuses to meet with Stanley to professionally discuss his plan.
We need the help of the public to make this grocery store happen. Please help by signing this petition to encourage the store to be brought to City Council as soon as possible!
