Help keep local income for locals managing alternative structures on there property.
Who loves coming out to Joshua Tree while getting to stay in an tiny home, a yurt, a teepee, a funky RV?
Dawn Rowe county supervisor seems to think the desert doesn’t want to look at these structures and that there isn’t support for these destinations.
I have had my tiny home airstream Lil’ Copernicus out in JT for 6 years with 1000 plus people coming to visit within 3 years. The reviews are of gratitude for providing a quiet place to retreat to. I do not feel this quiet retreat space is as possible in a hotel. Airbnbs houses are so high for a nightly rental in this area alternatives provide a middle of the road option for people coming to visit. (Average nightly rental is $300)
Yes we shouldn’t be renting properties with no bathrooms this isn’t what I’m talking about. What I am concerned with are the locals renting in there backyard with proper management, bathrooms, and connected to the grid who are now questioning if they have an income or not in this county.
There needs to be room for a permit for people who live on property while managing an alternative structure. County what jobs are you offering to replace this loss of income for locals? Right there isn’t jobs to be offered. So maybe this needs to be addressed rather than swept under the carpet. Please sign so we don’t lose all these alternative homes and locals who no longer can make an income in our community who has less and less locals.
