Here in Longmont, near Left Hand Brewery Tap Room, there is a serious safety concern going on for people trying to cross the street. On the side of the street where the tap room is at, there is one single street lamp. On the other side where people park their cars, there is no lighting. The only thing that exists are some signs in the middle of the road to indicate there is a crosswalk there. If someone is attempting to cross from the parking lot side in dark clothes, you're literally risking your life if there is any traffic. I myself own and operate a business nearby and often I am driving home at night and there have been several occasions of nearly missing a pedestrian. Not for lack of caution or because I was speeding but simply because that area is under lit. I am collecting signatures in order to petition the City of Longmont to put in a flashing crosswalk at this location and additional lighting before someone gets killed.
