Help Independent California Music Professionals Secure Exemption Under AB5

My employers at small independent restaurants and live music venues have random and unpredictable attendance and the money we get paid is inconsistent and not guaranteed. In order for said employers to stay in business, their sliding pay scales must be flexible and adjustable free from accounting and paperwork so we the performers can have immediate access to our pay for taking care of our families. The little bit of tax money and other deductions for social programs will only slow the process and become financially cumbersome for the little guy. AB5 has good intentions but it doesn’t work for us.
