James Thomson started this petition to Walmart and

Employees and customers should NOT be treated as prisoners in hope that the people who go inside the store WITHOUT a facemask/covering do not have Covid-19.

An average grocery store worker is usually a high school student making close to minimum wage an hour to try to get enough money to get an education. The place I work treats employees(or tries to) well, except for the fact that they allow people into the store without face masks/covering despite what is happening. These people who go into the store without any sort of covering are putting us the employees at risk. Who will pay for the hospital bills if you get sick, or who will pay for the funeral if you/or a family member end up dying from the disease? Grocery stores only offer sick leave based on the hourly rate you earn. They do NOT pay for any disaster that happens off the job.

Grocery stores need to take responsibility.

What they need to do is start banning people from going into the store if they do not have a face mask/covering regardless on what notes they show. The notes shown are telling that they are exempt from wearing a face mask because they have trouble breathing with it on. I do not doubt that, but not wearing at least a face shield makes me think that these people are deliberately trying to avoid wearing one due to "inconvenience". Most grocery stores now also have a pickup system in place to order online and have someone hand deliver it to you outside without you even leaving your car. Banning these people from entering the store will not prevent them from shopping online. If you shop online you can even schedule pickup and it usually takes 5-10 mins max for us the employees to get everything ready unless its a big order. That is about as much time as it takes you to check facebook, twitter, or watch a cute cat video.
