Why this petition matters

Started by Kimberly Lopez

Tammy Coleman has been employed at Valley Central School District for 23 years. She has been a tenured teacher, a trainer for various technology initiatives for district staff, an interim AP at Montgomery Elementary, VCMS Summer Academy Administrator, & currently Director of APPR, Data/Testing & UPK. Tammy is wrongfully being terminated with only 3 years to go until she can retire.  If you know Tammy, you know she has a strong work ethic and does exceptional work at her job.  Her one and only evaluation over the last FIVE years includes the following:  "She takes her role very seriously and works with buildings and Central Office to ensure the smooth operation of her department".  When the UPK program was shut down due to COVID, Tammy found a way to get it up and running again.  Her evaluation also noted, "In addition, this year she was forced to deal with the possibility of limited funding and relaying that information delicately and appropriately to the community.  She is to be commended for her efforts".  Finally, her evaluation states, "COVID 19 has changed the landscape of education for everyone and Ms. Coleman is to be commended for her ability to rise to the challenges created for her department".  The evaluation summary states, "Ms. Coleman is a valued member of the Valley Central team. She has the potential to be outstanding!" These remarks do not sound like an employee that does not do their job well - yet the Superintendent is recommending to the Board of Education that Tammy be terminated. This is 100% a wrongful termination! I ask that you sign this petition on behalf of Tammy Coleman so it can be submitted to the Board of Education and they will see how many people support Tammy.
