While I am a proud Martin Warrior alum, I agree times are changing and we need to be respectful of cultures and their history.

I support the change of the logo if it will help groups of marginalized individuals have a more positive, comfortable high school experience.

It’s time to change. It’s time to involve the entire community in such a change.

I refuse to participate in such virtue signaling. I was in the original class of ‘82 that came up with this imagery and logo. Grow up! It’s an honor and recognition of the great Indian Warriors embedded in Texas history! Your hyper-sensitivity is merit less!

Everyone signing the petition to keep the headdress mascot says to “not erase history”, but changing a mascot that has reduced Indigenous people to a cartoon isn’t erasing history. It’s called respect, and students at Martin constantly disrespect Native American culture by wearing headdresses at sporting events. If they have such a problem with history being erased, they should confront the people who have whitewashed our classroom history books. Also, there are so many other kinds of warriors. Why not choose a kind of warrior whose people weren’t decimated by genocidal white supremacists? (Trojans, Spartans, etc...)

This is the right thing to do. Times change and so should this logo/mascot.

I'm glad the headdress logo is being changed. Now it's time to change mascots completely.

Class of 1992 here. The mascot was always troubling. Thank you for doing something that should have been done decades ago.
