My son, Michael, is 9 years old and he has Dyslexia. Every school he has been too has told me that Dyslexia is not a recognized learning disability in any schools in the US except for in Texas. Dyslexia needs to be recognized because this "learning" disability causes a person to see things backwards, ex.... letters and numbers. My son has failed many spelling tests because instead of spelling dad he would spell bad or spelling gets flipped like instead of to he would spell ot. I don't understand why these children can't get the help they need to teach there brains to fix what they see. A Dyslexia tutor is very expensive and your average pay check to pay check family struggles to pay for it. The schools have specialist that are trained in dealing with Dyslexia so why can't we utilize them and help our children. They are our future leaders.
