SUCCESS! Thanks to YOU, the infamous Danga Bay Petting Zoo was raided yesterday and ALL animals have been removed! They will be placed in a new home, and their suffering has now ended. Nature Alert would like convey a million THANK YOUS to all of you who signed and shared this petition. Without YOUR calling for this place to be closed, Danga Bay zoo would surely still be operating and the animals' suffering continued!
Danga Bay Petting Zoo is located in the state of Johor, southern Malaysia, just over the water from Singapore. This is the worst zoo in all of Malaysia and urgently needs to be closed and the animals relocated to better zoos.
There is nothing of education or conservation value to this zoo. This infamous zoo is all about exploitation and the animals there cling to life such as it is in tiny cages. Will you please help us close this zoo?
Many thanks for helping out.
Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak
Prime Minister of Malaysia
Office of the Prime Minister,
Blok Utama, Bangunan Perdana Putra,
Pusat Pentadbiran Kerajaan Persekutuan,
Dear Prime Minister,
You know and I know, Danga Bay Petting Zoo abuses wild animals. Some would say the zoo tortures these animals.
Please will close down this zoo now, before more animals suffer? They are suffering, as is the image of both Johor and Malaysia. So why not order Perhilitan to close it now? Until you do, I won’t stop writing and for as long as it takes.
Apart from Nature Alert’s scathing reports of this zoo, here are some unsolicited comments from visitors.
Visitor comments obtained from web sites/blogs include:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUVj8Cd5Adk Please check out this video and look at the elephant's psychotic behaviour.
It is an incredibly stressed animal in urgent need of relocation.
"...by far it is one of the most cruel places I’ve ever visited"
"The elephant seemed to be the least fortunate by having his two front legs and neck chained to the concrete floor"
"think this place actually amounts to animal cruelty!"
"Most heartwrenchingly, the elephant was shackled so tightly that he could not move at all inside his pen. From the animals' behaviour, they were either highly restless or were resigned to their fate"
“Aidil’s” back left foot and front right foot are shackled so tightly he is can't turn around, let alone lie down or walk. The only way to help “Aidil” the elephant from his daily living hell is by moving him to Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary, approximately 450km away, this week.
For the sake of the animals and your country’s already severely tarnished reputation, please will you now close down this zoo?
