The Calloway County KY school system have absolutely no bus monitors on the school buses. Bus monitors would help a bus driver tremendously. They bus aide or monitors can handle the kids while the bus driver is driving and focusing on the road. This would help the bus driver be free from any distractions so that the kids can be safe. For example if a kid comes home and tells a parent they were being bullied on the bus the student can address it to the side instead of distracting the driver. Another example would be what would happen if a fight broke out on the bus, the bus driver can’t simply stop the bus in a hurry on the side of the road or in the middle of the road. This is where a bus aide/monitor would come in handy. The aide could help resolve the situation while the bus driver is driving and mainly focusing on the road instead of having to look up and take eyes off the road. Aides are extremely beneficial to the school system and bus drivers. They can help with a number of things. A lot of accidents can be prevented with the help of a bus aide.
