The government is making changes to childcare fees to make it easier for families, and although we greatly appreciate the sentiment, without adequate childcare, and in particular before and after school care options, the changes do nothing or can cause families to be even further out of pocket. 

There is one childcare center servicing the entire AMTB school community, with limited before and after school places available. As it currently stands, parents have to bus their children outside of the school zone to access care, and ultimately take spaces away from Prospect Road Elementary families. 

Rural communities need adequate services, especially as their populations continue to grow.

Something needs to change. And a good start would be instating an EXCEL program at the schools to offer before and after school care within the community. 

I will be lobbying to get these changes implemented, but the more support we have, the more likely our voices will be heard.
