My brother Derek Hollis was involved in a bad motorcycle accident on September 29th 2012, and passed away October 7th 2012 he was 30. My brother loved riding his Harley his bike was his baby. He adored it and loved it very much. Derek was not wearing his helmet when the accident happen. He was thrown from his bike and landed on his head. He sustained a very bad head injury and fought for a week he was doing good but the swelling in his head started back up and ended up causing the whole brain to die, so in other words we were left with no choice but to remove him from life support. My brother was an amazing person who touched everyone that he came in contact with. He was a son, uncle, brother, friend and my best friend. When I found out about the helmet law passing I was sick to my stomach! I understand that wearing a helmet is a "Choice" but passing the helmet law because the state was worried about tourist and money, that's awful. I believe that a persons life is more important then that!! You have to wear a seat belt in a car, so why don't you have to wear a helmet when on a motorcycle? Your body is more exposed on a motorcycle then in a car, but yet it's still ok to not wear a helmet? I honestly don't understand this stupid law. I keep hear more and more stories about people being hurt in motorcycle accidents and not having helmets on. If my brother would of had his helmet on he would of walked away with a broken shoulder. Im asking for support here, I know that this isn't going to make a difference, but I want to see how many people agree with me and support me. The "NO HELMET LAW" is absurd!! Please sign my petition if you agree...Thanks!!
