Dear Helen Plum Memorial Library Trustees:

We, the undersigned Lombard residents, strongly support your efforts to construct a new library on the site of the present one.  We believe your desire to keep the library at its traditional downtown location is historically and economically justified and reflects the will of a substantial majority of Lombardians as shown by the results of the November 2016 referendum.

It appears you have been more than reasonable in presenting various building proposals, each of which protects the integrity of Lilacia Park, to the Lombard Park District, only to so far be met by the Park District’s refusal to seriously discuss any of them.  We ask you to continue to try to reach an agreement in this regard.  Should the Park District remain uncooperative, please do not yield to pressure to consider another site.  The library belongs where it is:  the location provided for in Colonel Plum’s will and desired by the majority of Lombard voters.  Moving it should not be an option.  Please do whatever is necessary to keep the library at its present site.

Thank you.
