Cecelia Sun started this petition to Health Service Executive and

Requesting the HSE to abandon restrictions of front line workers, such as Garda's, Healthcare workers, Fire fighters and other workers providing essential services that requires close contact with other people to be free to use personal protective equipments (including face masks, protective glasses and other PPEs) if they wish to do so.

Garda's, healthcare workers , Fire fighters and other essential providers are working around the clock on a daily basis, providing services to people who are vulnerable (elderly people, long term illness in residential and / or home-care settings, etc) ) to the spread and the deadly impact of Covid-19.

It is too much of an ask from the Government requesting front line service providers not to use PPEs when they are in duty. One must ask this question: “How can we protect the people we are serving, while we are restricted in the way we protect ourselves?!”

As a citizen of Ireland, we all have the basic right to protect ourselves and carry the duty of protecting fellow citizens. Restricting the use of PPEs is  placing citizens of Ireland in an un-necessary and higher risk. This will in turn place further burdens on the existing and extremely stretched medical system. The medical staff all over the world says: “We stay in work for you and you stay at home for us”.  For the people who are serving in the essential services i have mentioned, they do not have the choice to stay at home, but continue to serve faithfully by working long hours in a stressful environment.  They should be fully protected by the state of Ireland.

Please sign this petition and let all  citizens of Ireland, regardless of the professions we are in, to enjoy the right to be free to protect ourselves, our love ones and everyone around us by using PPEs.
