Give all NHS staff a 10% pay rise
The world finds itself in the grip of the worst pandemic we’ve seen for centuries. Those on the frontline in the NHS are tackling the COVID-19 virus, treating our loved ones and putting their own lives on the line in doing so.
We were asked by the government to clap for NHS workers last week, but many of those politicians famously cheered as they managed to block a pay rise for nurses in 2017. We won’t forget that.
Anything below £25,000 a year is currently deemed by the government as the salary of an ‘unskilled worker’, yet we find ourselves relying on nurses and paramedics who currently earn on average less than this.
In fact, many of our NHS staff are using food banks as they struggle to make ends meet. This is not right.
It’s now the time for change.
