Why this petition matters

Started by Sharon Betts

Dr Aseem Malhotra and Dr Unwin are championing low carb lifestyles because better metabolic health supports huge savings to the NHS and specifically during  covid.

We want government to address this instead of pushing the old eat less do more mantra which is proven to be only a temporary solution. We also want restaurants to cater to low carb as they do for vegan, vegetarian and other dietary requirements.

Calories are irrelevant when following a low insulin producing lifestyle.  Insulin is the fat storage hormone and ideally we should be educating the public far more on this subject.

Real food should be subsidised  while taxing  highly processed and high sugar and carb foods to pay for it. Poverty leads to poorer overall health because junk food is cheaper but far lower in nutritional value than real food like meat, fish, vegetables,  butter cheese and quality nuts.

Sugar is highly addictive and has no nutritional value  so adding it to products like cooked meats,  yogurts,  sauces and readymeals is counter productive to good health. Furthermore many high sugar products are marketed as healthy like cereal,  yogurt,  and "slimming aids!
