World TB Month

The Clock is Ticking, End TB now!

With March being TB month i would like to encourage each and every person that we all have roles and responsibilities in the fight against TB. It does not matter how small the role but its impact can ensure a TB free society. Through TB empowerment trainings of Health care workers in the field. TB workshops for the ordinary citizen to empower them with the knowledge of how to combat TB. Field workers (community health care workers, lay counselors) who are in daily contact with the communities their input are Vital.
Through TB training they gained new knowledge and skills and engaging them in the fight:...
• They are in the position to educate the communities regarding all of our (including the community) roles and responsibilities in the fight against TB.
• They are in the position to daily identify presumptive cases and refer for TB testing immediately.(Find, Treat, Cure all). Effectively Counsel clients to adhere to medication and prevent Lost to Follow up cases.
• They are in the position to assist the health facility/systems with the safe collection of sputum specimens in the field for TB investigations.

Government, Politicians, Legislators, Policy makers, Funders...it is time to close the gap between you and the Stakeholders on the Ground. Engage the ground workers in the decision making processes. Your visibilty on the ground would add to the impact.

Field and Ground meaning the community workers, volunteers, local clinic nurses, community members, etc.

We are all Stakeholders. What is my role? What is your role? Let's Do This, the Clock is Ticking!
