My son and his wife live in England. As of Aug 1 Greg Hunt amended legislation that created a travel ban for Australian citizens who live abroad and return to Australia for whatever reason that they must apply for an exemption to leave Australia again and this could viably be denied. Aust citizens who are seeking to return to our country are still required to apply, comply by arrival caps and pay for their own hotel quarantine. Only Australian citizens and permanent residents are allowed to enter the country. 
So in effect for me personally only my son is able to enter the country - his wife who is English is unable to come with him and then he needs to apply to leave the country again to return to where he lives with his wife - and that application is likely to be denied. 
God forbid anything happens to anyone in our family. This is just a huge incursion of our rights as free Australian citizens.
