Mary Jane started this petition to HEALTH CANADA and

Edible Cannabis Packaging is Extremely wasteful, inconsistent with other substances regulated by Health Canada and are driving consumers away from the legal market.

Amend the Cannabis Edibles Packaging regulations

From:
Max 10 mg THC per Unit
Max 10 mg THC per Child-resistant container.

To:
Max 10 mg THC per Unit
Max 100 mg THC per child-resistant container.

This change will reduce single use plastic waste by 90%

It is also: More convenient for consumers & More discrete to hide from youth

Edible Cannabis is about to be federally legal in Canada. The average single dose for adults ranges from 10-60 mg THC per serving. The regulations proposed require every 10 mg THC be individually packaged in child-resistant containers.

The average child resistant container is ~ 38g of single-use plastic waste.
Every 12 edible units sold would result in 1 pound of single use plastic waste.

The edibles market is projected to sell millions of units annually. That would result in MILLIONS of pounds of plastic waste.

Amend regulations to allow for up to 10 servings in a single package.

10 mg THC units sold in child-resistant containers with up to 10 units.

(Tylenol, Cough Syrup, etc. are all available in multiple doses and are LETHAL )
