It can be really difficult time for a young girl to come to terms with getting her period and becoming a young woman. The very, very last thing she needs is to be embarrassed by having to use a toilet she has to share with young men, who can be very unfeeling, uncaring, rude, teasing etc. What if she has an accident and needs to wash blood out of her clothing, how can she do that in a unisex toilet with boys at the sink. Come on people - have some sense! No woman, no matter what age, should have to share a toilet with men in a public space. That small haven of safety, where you can feel relaxed that there are only women present is very important. Where has this nonsense about unisex toilets come from? I would really urge everyone to speak out against it - it is such a ridiculous thing. Let's celebrate our differences and guard our dignity by continuing to have separate male and female toilets.
