A Student started this petition to The head people in charge??

Racism has been a thing since before all of us were born and over the recent years racism has been less prominent but that does not mean that it is nonexistent because it isn't and it still affects millions of people worldwide.

Racism is taught. No one is born a racist but instead influenced by the environment from an early age, which is why school should be a place where racism of any kind isn't tolerable so young people grow up with that mindset that everyone is equal.

Unfortunately, I have witnessed times where someone has stood up to racism or discrimination and has been punished for it. The stranger fact is that the individual who said may have said a racist term or acted out of racial prejudice either is dismissed or they aren't as severely punished as the victim of the racism itself.

Why? I also have never known the reason. I would understand if the person who confronted another person took a violent approach but that is never really the case. A school is a place where everyone should feel safe (emphasis on everyone).

Teachers at Emmanuel are always talking about how racism and how any type of activity that makes people feel unsafe or uncomfortable is never acceptable but then when it's reported it takes days to "deal with" and I believe that the way it is dealt with is not sufficient enough and "spreading awareness" isn't teaching us anti-racism during Black History Month.

That's why I made this petition to let teachers know that we as a people have had enough of half-made promises.
