Shashank Chakerwarti started this petition to Heads Of State and

Calling on all Heads of State, Presidents and Prime Ministers,

With the British government having Article 50 triggered and initiated their process to leave the European Union, a collaborative project that brought peace to this continent post World War 2 and more important to the people of Northern Ireland.

I went on a US Embassy Youth delegation to Belfast, to learn more about the troubles, the historic agreement between the two governments and current scenarios. I was extremely pleased to learn how a nation wrapped in war has not seen violence in over 20 years, however, this agreement now hangs like a dagger in the British Parliament.

The return of a hard border could lead to the return of the troubles and more violence. In1998 - after nearly two years of talks and 30 years of conflict - the Good Friday Agreement a.k.a. the Belfast agreement was signed. This resulted in a new government being formed that would see power being shared between Unionists and Nationalists. The idea of the agreement was to get the two sides to work together in a group called the Northern Ireland Assembly.

I request all Heads of State, Prime Ministers and Presidents with clasped hands to not do any trade deals with the United Kingdom post a hard Brexit and allow the return of violence to my beautiful island of Ireland.
