Laura davies started this petition to Head teacher of Orchard Primary School

In September this year parents were informed that the breakfast and after school club at Orchard Primary School, that many parents relied on as their main form of childcare, would not be able to operate.  Footscray after school club have been operating at the School and many other local schools for years. Parents were advised 2 days before term that due to Covid 19 the school had decided that this provision would have to stop temporally, with a review later in the year.  This decision was made without any consultation with the parents or the club itself.  The club continue to operate safely in other local schools, and have assured the head teacher that they can do the same at Orchard Primary.

On the 30th of November the school announced in a news letter that they would unfortunately not be able to offer the breakfast and after school club service.  The decision was made following a small survey that was sent to parents via parent pay on the 16th of October.  The reason for not reinstating the breakfast and after school clubs now was because of the low numbers of parents who require this service.  The Footscray after school club who provide this service however, are happy to reinstate the clubs. Following the outcome of this survey many parents have had discussions and have questioned the results.  The numbers do not seem to add up!

The closure of the clubs has put a huge pressure on families at Orchard. Parents have requested a consultation with the head teacher about this decision.  Please sign this petition to support working parents of children at Orchard Primary School and to reinstate the breakfast and after school clubs that are needed by so many parents.
