Henry County BOE: Extend the Mask Mandate and/or Implement Virtual Hybrid Learning

Henry County will be having their board of education meeting on next week, 9/13. At the meeting that took place in August, there were a good number of folks there that opposed mandating masks for the schools. There were even some teachers and faculty that did not enforce the mandate. How do I know? Because I saw it with my own eyes and took pictures.
Since then, COVID-19 has ravaged our schools and we have gotten emails daily about a student that tested positive; most times, it was after that student had exposed other students and those students exposed others when they went home. Schools have been shutdown across the state, whether it be for a few days, a few weeks, or going completely virtual.
At the next BOE meeting on 9/13 (assuming they let us speak), we will be petitioning the BOE to:
1. keep masks mandatory beyond the Henry County Lvl 4 status until a vaccination has been developed & deemed safe by the CDC for our children
or
2. immediately give all parents the option of placing their children in virtual hybrid learning without delay.
Let’s not forget how we got to this place to begin with. It is our responsibility to insure our children are able to learn in a safe environment. No one is trying to “muzzle” anyone and you can see those smiling faces when they come home from school. But if they never come home, you will only be able to see that smiling face from past photos.
Let’s do the right thing. Please sign the petition
