The continuation of mental health clinics in Memorial Hospital of Savannah Ga

Hospital Corporation of America has purchased the assets of Memorial Hospital and the Chatham County Hospital Authority in a deal valued at $710 million. This deal will terminate some of Memorials clinics, specifically mental health clinics. For the last two years I have been a patient at Memorial where I attended the eating disorder clinic every Thursday where I would sit in the waiting room with children as young as nine years old. The eating disorder program has saved numerous lives, including my own, and the mental health staff at Memorial is made up of the most hardworking, attentive, caring people I have ever been involved with. Memorial Hospital's purpose is simple; to save lives. However, for the sake of profits and budgeting, the HCA has decided to cut programs with no consideration for how this might impact their patient's lives. Not only do they cut programs, the HCA consistently under staffs to feed the pockets of big time investors, thus endangering patients' lives and the livelihood of nurses and doctors whose licenses are put in jeopardy. There is no stopping the deal that has been made with the HCA, but we can save these programs, and in turn, save lives.
