Justice for Ghost
Justice for Ghost
At the time of writing this, the most recent episode aired of “Game of Thrones”™ is Season 8 Episode 4. Many walked away from this episode discussing plot-points, such as the aftermath of last week's ‘Battle of Winterfell’, or the fate of a particular fan favorite character, and some other people went to Twitter to complain about a rogue coffee cup spotted in Winterfell. But I and many others around the world were visibly shocked and saddened about the treatment of perennial good boy Ghost, Jon Snow’s albino Direwolf. Ghost is one of six direwolves still on the show, having first appeared as a pup in Season 1 Episode 1. I repeat, Season 1 Episode 1. Let’s give a brief rundown of Ghost’s EPIC history on the acclaimed television show.
In Season 1, when Jon left for Castle Black, Ghost, that little badass, went with him and provided a clue towards the whereabouts of Benjen Stark, Jon’s Uncle. He also warns Jon of an undead Wight on the premises, threatening the life of his Lord Commander. Later on down the line, Ghost saves Sam from a wight. (Who’s a good boy, they never stood a chance!). Some more time passes and he is captured and held at Craster’s Keep, where he is teased and tormented by his captors. Upon liberation, Ghost enacts his revenge on one of his tormentors (Thatta Boy Ghost!) and swiftly returns to Jon after more than a year apart. Soon after, Ghost assists in the ‘Battle of Castle Black’ against the wildlings. AND THEN!, just to add to this good boy's massively impressive repertoire, Ghost and Sam stop two criminals from raping a woman. Hell yeah!!!! Ghost is also the first to inform all of Jon’s murder, and proceeds to guard his body for the days to come, until his eventual resurrection. And earlier this current Season, he, Jorah Mormont, and the Dothraki led the first charge towards the army of the dead, and he came out of the fight with heavy battle scratches and a damaged right ear. All of that listed up above occurred over the course of just seven years, and if that isn't good boy material then I don’t know what is.
And that's where the issue of Season 8 Episode 4 comes in. You’d think that after his years of service and loyalty, his master, Jon, should show him at least some physical affection, right? Well, APPARENTLY NOT! No pets, no belly rubs, no affirmations of how good he was, nothing!
To HBO, David Benioff and D.B Weiss, George R.R Martin, Kit Harington, and/or whoever else may be reading this right now, I speak on behalf of Game of Thrones fans and animal lovers all around the world when I say that we think Ghost deserves the world, (more specifically the Iron Throne) , but if that is unattainable, then at least give us footage or some sort of confirmation that Jon Snow does indeed have a heart and love for his loyal companion Ghost, and that he appreciates all he has done for him throughout the years. And I am talking about, pets, belly rubs, “Who’s a good boy?” ‘s, ALL OF IT. We the people are easy to please, and what pleasures us is the due justice for the poster boy good boy.
