We are trying to save our local pub, The Red Lion, Yarnton, from turning into a gastro type pub, as the owners, Hawthorn Pubs, want and we need your help.

Currently The Red Lion caters for all the locals needs and wants. We have a pool table, darts and aunt Sally, which all have teams.  We also have slot machines, juke box, tvs and everything associated with those things.  There is always a warm welcome and you always know someone to chat with, have a laugh and put the worlds to rights.  You can watch your favourite sports on the tv, especially for big games, which is very popular. They also put on events and have live music.   This is the type of pub a village like this needs.  It is off the beaten track (so to speak) so not on a main road, so no real passing trade. If we wanted a gastro pub there are plenty of others fairly locally to choose from. This is NOT one of them. There are not many "proper pubs" left so please try and help us save this one. Yes, it may need a little tlc and updating but this can be done and still keep its character, essence and sense of purpose.  If this pub is turned into a gastro pub then I, personally, will not have any where else to go.  Many people over the past years have tried to turn this pub into something similar to what Hawthorn Pubs want  and into something it really is not. They failed abysmally and probably at a great financial loss. 

During the pandemic the pub threw itself into the community to help in any way it could. They also had a food bank and the landlady did a podcast just to try and cheer people up and let them know they are not alone. It has also now been listed as a community asset, which is hard to come by.
