The state of Hawaii has withheld much needed relief money totaling $1.6 billion from the people including Federal COVID Relief money and has indicated they are stowing it away for a rainy day.  If the large amounts of unemployed and issues with basic necessities doesn't account for rainy day, I am not sure what would be.

Further more state has failed to enact rules and regulations to protect people suffering from unemployment and lost wages and earnings with 6 in 10 people with lost incomes, the need for greater assistance is necessary.  Rules to suppress rent and mortgages, utilities, elderly/childcare, social services, etc.

Hawaii is a state that relies primarily on the tourist industry to provide jobs and can be clearly classified as a paycheck to paycheck economy with most people needing to work 2 to 3 jobs to supplement their income.  We generate massive amounts of revenue and yet wages are suppressed to bare minimum.  The need to provide necessary funds to people in need is greater than ever before amid the current crisis that we face in this new COVID world.

I am petitioning for the state to properly distribute the relief money and enact greater laws to protect people with much social and economic needs at this time.
