The State of Hawaii owns the property and building in which Surf N Sea operates, and we currently have an opportunity to receive a long-term lease from the State. But we need your support.

The Green 'ohana has owned and operated Surf N Sea since the early 1980’s and must secure a long-term lease in order to preserve and maintain the historic building. Joe Green is a journeyman carpenter and possesses the skill, desire, and passion necessary to ensure the historic building remains standing.

As more emphasis is placed on new development by outside investors, many cultural and historical landmarks are vanishing. For nearly 100 years, the Surf N Sea building has stood across the Anahulu (Rainbow) Bridge and hopes to continue to secure its current location.

  •   Historic Hawaii Foundation has awarded Surf N Sea with their “Anniversary Recognition, in honor of it’s Centennial Anniversary”. An award that “celebrates the rich history of kama’aina organizations and holds a significant role in the unique and cultural heritage of Hawaii”.
  • The Historic Preservation Division of Hawaii has previously stated: “the building meets the criteria for listing in the Hawaii and National Register of Historic Places”.

  • North Shore Chamber of Commerce concluded: “this important landmark building to be preserved, and continued in its present use”.

Please help us ensure that this local business and building remains a historical landmark and an integral member of the Haleiwa township community by signing this petition.
