Eric Horst started this petition to Haverford Township Residents and Surrounding Community

We, the undersigned residents of Haverford Township, PA and the surrounding community, commend the Haverford Township Manager and Board of Commissioners for their unanimous decision to suspend the Bon Air Fire Company, after Bon Air’s leadership refused to take action against a member who was linked to a violent extremist group, known as the Proud Boys.  Bon Air was given an opportunity to address this issue by simply accepting the member’s resignation, but they refused.

Organizations that provide emergency services to the public must do so on a non-discriminatory basis.  There can be no tolerance for organizations who choose to protect members from the consequences of their own actions, rather than ensuring that that they are adequately serving all members of the public, regardless of race, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, and religion.

In a world where elected officials often choose to take the path of least resistance, rather than making tough decisions on behalf of their constituents, Haverford Township’s decision stands out as a model of courage and commitment to the principle of equality under the law.  We are proud to have Township leadership that is working on behalf of all of its constituents.  We are grateful to the Township Manager and the Board of Commissioners for taking its commitment to the public seriously, and standing up for our community and our values.
