Have the MPAA create an X-21 rating so some NC-17 rated films can receive a higher rating
The Issue
Right now, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) does not have a rating greater than NC-17. Spain, South Korea, Australia, and the United Kingdom all have a rating greater their equivalent rating for NC-17.
The main reason why there should be a X-21 rating is that some films that feature content that is not suitable for 18 to 20-year olds receive an NC-17 rating. There are many films that fall into this category: The Dreamers, A Serbian Film, Last Tango in Paris and many others. The best example of this is the film Kids. The film has an NC-17 rating due to its content. A film of this nature would not qualify for NC-17 if X-21 existed.
If you want to let the MPAA know that we want an X-21 rating then let them know by contacting them on their website or messaging them on Twitter and Facebook. Sign the petition to help get the rating. Let them know we want a #X-21.
