Growing up Stephen's Springs (also known as Johnny White Springs) was a wonderful place to swim and spend the day. The water was spring fed even if you couldn't tell by the color since the river and marsh ran right into it. A few years ago some citizens chose to try to "fix" the spring and make it "better" for people to swim in. However, when they were pulling rocks and such out to dig it out they actually crush the boil. They then installed a concrete wall in an effort to stop the water from coming in from the marsh/river area. In doing so the water has become stagnant and unusable for any activities. We would like to county to come out and fix the spring back to its original glory and look at adding a splash pad much like the spring fed on at hart spring.
