Why this petition matters

Started by Sreenidhi V

Seven07's units, particularly those on the 12th floor and above, have not had stable hot water since November 2021. Not having hot water is a breach of the implied warranty of habitability.

When we enquired about this with the office, we were told that we do not receive hot water “because we live on the higher floor” and the hot water supply is simply “exhausted” by the time it reaches our floor. An unreasonable explanation that reflects the sheer lack of concern for residents' wellbeing. Tenants have quite literally fallen sick from showering in freezing waters. This has been an issue since long before the recent statewide snowstorm.

For the longest time, the management has been negligent in remedying this problem despite being consistently notified about the issue. Living on a higher floor is not an excuse for no hot water supply - a guaranteed part of the rental contract. Particularly when temperatures are below freezing, and tenants, myself included, have been unable to shower for the past six days because of the water situation.

Recent repairs to the water system conducted failed to bring hot water to our apartment and having set up 2 shared-temporary showers with 15-minute slots for hundreds of residents in the midst of a pandemic is simply neither a safe nor acceptable solution.

Furthermore, promised WiFi facilities are also underperforming with constant interruptions and shutdowns in connection over the past 2 weeks.

We demand reduced rent to reflect the deprecated value of apartments with no hot water or stable internet (both promised as a part of the rent). Please sign this petition to support 707's residents and have the management take accountability for their lack of concern.
