Rowan University has little to no options concerning meals for the general Muslim/Jewish population(s). The meal plans are for the most part a waste because the choices are limited and there are barely any vegan/vegetarian options on campus (for those that would like to avoid meat that is not halal/kosher) without it coming out of pocket, or just becoming boring. While there are options at times, they pale in comparison to what is offered to the majority of the school. There are also many who have forcibly become vegan/vegetarian because they seemingly have no choice, which is a difficult lifestyle to pick up. As a freshman it is even more so difficult as you are not able to bring a vehicle on campus, and are required to have a meal plan which you cannot even utilize most of the time. There is no halal/kosher initiative whatsoever except for the pre-made kosher foods served for Passover. So not only can most individuals not eat what they want, they're wasting money in the process. This is not a complaint, simply a suggestion as there is a large portion of RU's population that are Muslim, Jewish, or vegan/vegetarian and share the same sentiments.
