We nominate Sarah Davis of Davidsonville, MD to represent our parent voice on this extremely important committee. She would be the parent nominee on the negotiated rulemaking committee which will prepare the proposed regulations on the Every Student Succeeds Act, the replacement legislation to No Child Left Behind. This legislation impacts all students and particularly children with disabilities, creating the general education standards against which progress is measured and requiring schools to measure performance and reduce achievement gaps for historically underserved students, including children with disabilities.
Sarah has lived in many states through her husband’s military service and brings many different school experiences to the table. Four of her five children have a range of disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, hypogenesis of the corpus callosum, visual impairment and other disabilities. She is articulate, intelligent, thoughtful, and motivated to work in a cooperative fashion to solve problems for the greater good. She is a partner with schools, as well as a strong advocate for special needs families.
We nominate Sarah to represent our parent voice on this extremely important committee.
Sarah can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org to submit questions or legislative priority recommendations.
