Governor DeSantis of Florida passed the “don’t say gay bill”, due to this bill it has caused OCPS (Orange County Public Schools) in Florida to pass a new policy where teachers are being told to take down photos of their same-sex spouses and not talk about them to their students. As well as banning rainbow representation of clothing and making it okay for teachers to out students to their parents/guardians.. 

OCPS recently made it aware of their support of the LGBTQIA+ community. Letting schools hold flags in front saying, “you are welcome here.” As well as letting students express themselves and holding peaceful protests over the “don’t say gay” bill that passed. We need to change this new policy and we believe holding this petition can be just the beginning. We believe school should be a safe place for both students and its staff. There should be no discriminating acts like this one treating students/teachers in a different way.
